Submit Work

Please note: Sixteen Rivers Press is a nonprofit, shared-work poetry collective. Full-length manuscript submissions are judged blind.

REQUIREMENTS OF AUTHORS

  • Authors must live in the Greater Bay Area and be able to attend ten or more meetings a year.
  • Authors must become members of the collective and make a three-year commitment to it.
  • Authors generally devote an average of eight hours per month to the collective, including meetings, although this varies depending on the production schedule, which runs from September through February; summers are lighter. When the author’s own book is in production, the number of hours per month increases.
  • Authors must agree to follow our consensus-based model of decision-making.
  • Authors assist in the work of the press, including book design, production, and publicity.
  • Authors have the final decision on the design and contents of their own book.
  • Authors receive no money from the sales of their books. Profits from sales go toward the publication of the next year’s books.
  • Authors’ books will be published during the second year of their commitment. The third year is devoted to promoting their books and helping to publish the next year’s books.

The submission period is from November 1, 2013, to March 1, 2014. Manuscripts received outside that time period will not be read.
